“The Oyster Perpetual Submariner is a reference among divers’ watches. Launched in 1953, the Submariner was the first divers’ wristwatch waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet). This was the second great breakthrough in the technical mastery of waterproofness, following the invention of the Oyster, the world’s first waterproof wristwatch, in 1926. In watchmaking, the Submariner represented a historic turning point; it set the standard for divers’ watches.” – Rolex
This example is from 2011 with cerachrom (ceramic) bezel and date, in stainless steel with original stainless steel oyster bracelet. This was purchased in Hong Kong at an authorised Rolex dealer, and has had little wear, mainly on the green NATO strap pictured (not included), so the bracelet is in excellent condition, no scratches and as you can see from the pictures almost no wear or evidence of sagging/drooping. The watch itself is also in fantastic as new condition, keeping superb time and having been very well looked after for several years. The sale comes with the original green inner box, papers, instruction manual, hang tag, card outer box and even the dust cover box to protect the outer card box itself, it is the complete package.
There is currently a long waiting list at most AD’s for all stainless steel Rolex sports models, the submariner being one of the most desirable. I need to sadly part with this watch since I will be a father soon, and cannot justify keeping this lovely time piece! This is a very fair price given the nature of this desirable watch, it’s classic design, ability to hold and eventually increase its value. Hopefully it will go to a good home!
